The day after her birthday, Maya graduated. She is now a proud member of the Pre-Toddler classroom at daycare. Maya loved her time in the Infant room (especially her teacher Sue). But, she is taking well to all that the Pre-Tods room has to offer--daily playground time, craft activities, and group nap. Yes, that's right. Maya's daycare nap strike has FINALLY ended. About 3 months ago, Maya's teachers diagnosed her with a bad case of FOMO (aka fear of missing out). You see, in the Infant room all the kids nap on their own schedule. Because of this, there is always some kid awake and playing. While this would not bother most children, the thought of a kid playing while she sleeps is just too much for Maya to handle. So, for her last 3 months in the Infant room, Maya resolved to not nap for more than 20 minutes at a time. Thankfully, all the kids in Pre-Tods nap together so Maya's case of FOMO has abated. A week in to being a pre-toddler and Maya is averaging a two hour nap a day. Hopefully, this pattern holds. Here's a look back at Maya's former life in the Infant room.

12 Months Old

February 2, 2014: 12 months old.

12th Baby

What does every little girl want for her 1st birthday? Her hometown team to be Super Bowl champions. Well, thankfully Maya's wish came true. The Seahawks won their first Super Bowl ring on the same day we were ringing in our first year with Miss Maya. Maya has been an avid fan all season long, so a big thanks to the Hawks for bringing such a great gift home for our 12th baby...

Yes, these next photos aren't technically of Maya. But, Maya was with us in spirit as we watched the Hawks win the NFC Championship and then the Super Bowl. Oh, what a season...

Happy Birthday, Miss Maya!

We did it! We got Maya to her first birthday in one piece. Such an accomplishment deserves a party, so a party we threw. Given the large size of Maya's oh-so-modern family, we made her party mostly a family affair. Our little "bug" had a wonderful time being doted on by everyone and enjoying her first taste of chocolate. Ever the entertainer, she even decided to put on a little show for her guests--by taking her first steps! That's right, Maya finally decided to give walking a try. On her first attempt, enticed by a toy, she took a couple steps until she toppled into her Aunt Jane's arms. She repeated this feat later after everyone had left, but this time got four steps in and ended her walk completely upright. Although she hasn't tried walking again, we have a feeling full mobility is just a few short weeks away. It was a wonderful party and a wonderful day. We truly can't believe a year has already passed....

A weekend away...

We celebrated MLK weekend by heading up to Tumble Creek for a weekend away with the Green family. We relaxed while the kids played, went for a swim and enjoyed a Mexican feast. Although it was a short trip, it was great to get out of town with some great friends. Thank you Greens for the lovely weekend!
