Baby fry
Recently, Maya had her most exciting life experience since she wore her first turtleneck--She got to try her first french fry. Needless to say, just like her mama we think she's hooked.
Baby Mozart
We've discovered a new activity that keeps Maya endlessly entertained: playing piano (I wonder where she got that from?) Although we're sure she'll fight us on practicing when she's older, right now she enjoys nothing more than tickling the ivories with a little help from her Dad. Carnegie Hall, here we come...

The Shire
We have always loved going up to Gigi and Jack's house in Edmonds. It has a gorgeous view with a huge yard and the house is so welcoming. There is no better place to spend a Seattle summer afternoon. Knowing that our days up there are coming to an end (Gigi and Jack are moving back to Seattle), Maya demanded we host one last BBQ up at "The Shire." Maya was in charge of the guest list and she stacked it with mini-humans (there were 10 kids there under age 6!) In fact, there were so many munchkins that we had to get creative on finding places for them to take an afternoon snooze. (Nora got the prime spot--she took her afternoon siesta under the dining room table...). While the kids were taking turns sleeping, we got to spend time with some of our favorite people. Aunt Melissa came in from San Francisco, Aunt Megan drove up from Bend, and Aunt Lo trekked up from Portland. It was a great way to close out the summer.

Slumber Party
Maya had her first slumber party last weekend. She spent the night up at Gigi and Jack's so that her parents could take in a Sounders game with some friends. It was Maya's first night away from Mom, and she did great (Alison, for the record, also did fine. She only checked her phone about 3 times the whole night...). Gigi and Jack kindly supplied us with a photo montage of what Maya was up to during her first night away.
