Hiking with the baby Broncos

This weekend the SCUie crew got together to hike up to Denny Creek.  We have finally reached the tipping point where the kids out number the adults.  Hiking to Denny Creek and playing on the slippery rocks is a right of passage for kids in Seattle.  It was great to share one of Maya's first hikes with such a good crew.

Weekend in Vancouver

We decided to take a quick trip across the border to spend the weekend in Vancouver.  We were excited to spend some quality time with Rox and Bobby and Jo and Colin, while Maya had fun with her fellow mini-humans Kyler and Grayson.  The weekend was gluttonous to say the least and mostly involved moving from one meal to the next.  We hit up the Richmond Night Market (a North American version of a traditional Asian night market) and Rox's favorite Dim Sum restaurant.  We also got to spend some time wandering around Granville Island.  The only bad part was that Maya started to get sick near the end of the trip, so we had to hightail it back to the U.S. to nurse her back to health.  Despite that, it was a great weekend spent with great friends!

During an afternoon family picnic, Maya made it known that she is already too cool for this "hanging out with the parents" nonsense. 

Not even 18 months and she's already perfected the "I'm so not into this" face. 

The 4th

We celebrated the Fourth by taking a hike with some friends. We hiked to the top of a mountain that paragliders jump off of.  As soon as Maya saw the hiking pack was out, she started saying "up please."  Once we were at the top of the mountain, she screamed "woah" every time one of the paragliders would jump.  Our wonderful photographer friend Ryan got some great shots of Maya during the hike.

World Cup

We are a soccer loving family, so we were so excited that it was finally World Cup time again.  Maya is a bit confused as to why all of a sudden the TV is on all the time at our house, but she has gotten in on the action by repeatedly saying "ball" every time there is a close in shot during one of the games.  Maya even helped us host a little viewing party for the US v. Portugal game.  Although the game ended in a heartbreaking tie due to some last minute heroics by the Portuguese, we still enjoyed the afternoon.

Cousin time

Maya had a play date with her cousin Henry at her Great Aunt Wendy's house.

Into the Wild

Maya's finally old enough this summer to throw in our hiking backpack and head up to the hills.  She's loves checking out the scenery while her Sherpa (aka Dad) hauls her up the trail.
